TOLIS Group Remote Login Support

On occasion, at the discretion of TOLIS Group, TOLIS Group's Technical Support Department may request the ability to remotely log into a customer's system for troubleshooting purposes.  Should the customer's system contain confidential data, TOLIS Group will sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to assure the confidentiality of such data.  TOLIS Group can provide the NDA, or it can be one the customer has produced.

The writing of archives may be necessary to troubleshoot a system.  To preclude the overwriting of a customer's backed-up data, data contained on tape cartridges should be removed from the tape drive or library prior to the login.  A tape cartridge that may be written onto by TOLIS Group should be made available.  Similar care should be taken to protect data contained on a disk stage if one is implemented.

Additionally, to provide further assurance of a system's integrity, it is advisable to provide temporary usernames and passwords to allow TOLIS Group to remotely log-in and these items should be changed when the troubleshooting has been completed.

Methods of remote login include SSH, Apple Remote Desktop, VNC, and telnet.  The use of VPN client software is not permitted for any reason.  TOLIS Group Technical Support are not permitted to install software for the sole purpose of remote login for a customer.

If you have questions about remote login, please ask your TOLIS Group Technical Support Representative for more information.
